Easily My Favorite Game On iOS, Probably My Favorite App On iOS
By Golden Griffin
First thing to get out of the way: this game is NOT pay to win. In fact, the only times I have bought stones is when I’m on a grind and need more stamina, so I buy the $0.99 sales when they appear, or when I genuinely just want to either support the app or I desire to summon more. I have never felt like I NEEDED to buy any stone to progress. They give 1-2 stones free daily, there are plenty of stones to grind for free through quests and events until you’ve gone through basically all of them (like I have), and they even give out a solid amount of stones for achievements and special events. Just a few days ago they gave out 35 free stones for being #1 on the App Store; they even have the Japan version 100 free stones. Do some research and don’t dump 100 stones onto every banner that appears and you’ll be fine.
Now for some ratings:
I understand that they aren’t exactly the same thing, but in terms of an app Dokkan has some of the most appealing graphics I have seen. Except for some of the older cards and a few awkward animations, the art and graphics are superb.
Gameplay: 7/10 on bad times but 10/10 when it’s good.
Alright, so with these grinding games, there always comes a time when you plateau in time investment in between content releases. There are days when I log in to get exp items and zeni statues and then not touch it the rest of the day. Then I repeat that process for a few days or up to a couple weeks. I’m currently around rank 305 or so, so I’ve done my fair share of grinding the content out. HOWEVER, when they release new content, it personally hardly ever disappoints. Recently, they released the INT Golden Frieza event, the Universal Saga event, and brought back Mécha Coora (Cooler) and I was probably grinding for about a week straight (not exaggerating) and dropped at least 15 stones into stamina. On top of that, they have a World Tournament event that happens every so often that’s a whole thing in itself (just waiting on that to start now). Overall, there’s enough of a lull that I don’t get burnt out on playing and enough interesting content that I’m hooked like an addiction.
The main menu is very appealing and every tab/menu they have looks slick. It’s not clunky at all and it doesn’t ever just feel dull. The reason I’m giving it an eight is for one reason only: the potential system. I’ve heard others say this, but they need to add a less tedious way to spend orbs in the potential system. If you happen to have enough orbs and dups to rainbow a character, it takes 15 minutes of tapping to do it. A way to select what circles and paths you want open, be able to see the cost and how much you’ll have left, and then do it all at once or at least automatically to where you could cancel the spending would make it so much easier to upgrade characters.
Are there more things I could rate? Yes. Will I? I don’t think either of us wants to sit through much more text.
I’ll finish with pros, cons, and suggestions.
Pros: Addictive, clean/slick, fun, consistently updated, active community, caring developers, and overall fantastic.
Cons: Addictive (yes for both), days to weeks of nothing to do for seasoned players, very tedious between grinding and upgrading, frequently butters level of summon pulling, JP gets better stuff than Global so boo, and resources can be very very very limited if you don’t grind every day to keep supplies handy.
I’m aware that I mentioned some pros and cons that were not addressed in the rating section.
Finally, some suggestions:
Automated or bulk upgrading in the potential system.
Updated card art or at least give them Dokkan awakenings.
Better pull rates.
Maybe add a check mark or the ability to check mark events and quests that have already been completed fully from rewards.
Have the friend system show friends that would benefit your team. I don’t want a million SSJ4 Gogetas appearing when I’m running a mono-agl team.
Maybe add a feature to pay a dragon stone or two to catch up on a day missed from login bonuses.
More team sets.
More chances for zeni statue events or more statues during the current growth events.
I know, a lot of suggestions for an app I love to death.
Overall: 9/10, but very close to a 10/10.

Don’t spend anymore money on this cash grab. The rates of pulling ssr scales with your level. The lower level you are the higher chance you have on pulling some thing nice than you are higher levels. If you are going to spend money on a dragon ball z game, wait for dragon ball legendz. Akatsuki has ruined a beautiful game.....
I’ve been waiting for the strongest rivals to come back out so I can Dokkan awaken my coora into final form I got the Medals just fine but the final three stages were supposed to drop king cold chilled and mecha Freiza. And coora which I really need to boost his super and it didn’t I didn’t get any of them what the hell
Too much to download
I have great WiFi but yet this app is hell when trying to download content
Play JP, not this version
You get better stuff in JP than Global. Facts. Global is neglected for no reason.
Won’t let me play
Love this game, it’s crazy addicting. Just leaving a poor review because upon creating a new account, I have not been able to download to be able to play. I go through the tutorial just fine, but after when it’s about 3000 things to download, I get all the way to the end and wait about 5 minutes for it to tell me it failed (my interne t connection works great with everything else on my phone, I cleared space, and made sure my software was up to date) I have been trying the last two days and still there’s no reason for this to happen. I want to start playing again, but of course I can’t because of some bug or something I hope is fixed soon. Will definitely give a 5 once I’m able to start playing again.
Global is the Red Headed Step Child
I for one am sick of this version of the game being treated poorly. The Japanese version is consistently rewarded while the Global players get to watch and hear about how much better they treat the Japanese player base.
Investigate this company!
This company has to be investigated not only are the drop rates terrible but they unfairly reward the global version. For example, this past week we top grossed and they gave us 35 stones. On the other hand, they reward the Japanese version of the game 100 stones that is not right!
It’s best that you don’t get into this if you haven’t
I wasted 1.7years playing this .It treats f2p players like dirt.I hope this game gets shut down really soon i won’t even care about my old cards if gets shut down.
