Amazon Alexa App Description

A NEW WAY TO USE INTEGRATED DEVICES The updated Alexa App Smart Home section lets you view the state and control your smart lights, locks and thermostats. When you are on-the go, use the app to quickly check the status of your lock or turn off your lights. You can also navigate to the device’s settings page to rename the device or disable it. The new Multi-Room Music section allows users to designate a group for devices on the same Wi-Fi network. Once created, group names can be used to control music playback. The new Routines section allows users to automate a series of Smart Home and audio actions with one custom command. The new capabilities are available to customers with iPhones on iOS 9.0 or later. CONNECT WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS With the Alexa App, you can call and message Amazon Echo device owners and anyone else with the Alexa App on their phones. When you’re away from home, use the app to make a quick call or send a message to your family’s Echo. Use Drop In to instantly connect with your devices for a call. For example, you can drop in to let the family know it’s time for dinner or check in on the baby’s nursery. ALWAYS READY, CONNECTED, AND FAST For Alexa device owners, the free Amazon Alexa App is a companion to your Alexa device for setup, remote control, and enhanced features. Alexa is always ready to play your favorite music, provide weather and news updates, answer questions, create lists, and much more. Alexa's brain is in the cloud, so she continually learns and adds more functionality over time. The more you use Alexa, the more she adapts to your speech patterns, vocabulary, and personal preferences. HOW IT WORKS Interactions with devices with Alexa are automatically mirrored visually on your Amazon Alexa App, providing more information as you want it. The Amazon Alexa App lets you easily manage your alarms, music, shopping lists, and more -- wherever you are. FAST WI-FI and EASY SET UP Connect to your home's Wi-Fi network using the free Amazon Alexa App, with its simple guided setup. Now you can stream all of your music, listen to radio stations, and have access to news and information, all by voice -- or with the Amazon Alexa App's intuitive interface. • Mediocrity reigns supreme

I bet Amazon would sell more Alexa enabled devices if they had a decent app. Their IT department is absolutely brilliant when it comes to the Amazon website (as well as the back end) but it seems that they've put rookies to work developing the Alexa app. How about a real search function, for instance? With Sonos you can search across all of the streaming services in your account. Come on Bezos, you've got the money to invest to develope a much better app. Please improve this light weight!

  • Apps really good but

Now if this app could be a so called hybrid between the other smart devices with what it can already do that be awesome but lately the app crashes after getting into any other categories or even the settings. Wish it wouldn’t happen. And wish it would be noted and worked on immediately.
  • Doesn't even do everything the iPhone app does

The iPad app doesn't do everything the iPhone app does. I use an iPad for all my smart home devices and now I have to use multiple devices just to control Alexa.
  • Broke Sonos One Spotify Integration

This update completely ruined Spotify and Sonos One compatibility. When you ask Alexa to play a song, she’ll announce that she’s doing it but then plays nothing... BROKEN
  • Love Alexa, Hate this terrible app

I love Amazon Alexa and the Echo products. It’s become part of my day-to-day life and it’s hard to live without it now. Which is why it’s amazing that a company as innovative and tech savvy as Amazon could have such a terrible app to go with it. This app first of all is still not updated for iPhone X, and is so incredibly slow and laggy, even worse than on my old iPhone 6. The menu navigation is clunky and unintelligent. Getting to what you want is just cumbersome and slow. Come on Amazon, do better than this. Hire some real developers or something because the app is an embarrassment to an otherwise slick product.

Trying to connect my Spotify by logging into Facebook and there’s a continuous error occurring. Please fix.
  • Needs some tweaking

One thing I would really like to see is some more customization with the reminders and alarms. For instance, being able to set monthly reminders, or set an end date for weekly reminders. And being able to set the same alarm for multiple days would be excellent, ex: saying you would like the alarm to go off at 9 am on Tuesday and Thursday but not Mon-Wed-Fri. Otherwise, solid app with a few other minor issues.
  • Buggy and slow

The lists section of the app takes forever to open, even when I have a good WiFi or data connection. It should open immediately like Wunderlist does, with or without a connection. Then, if the connection is strong it can sync but at least my last-synced items opened quickly in the first place. Once lists section open it freezes, so I can see the names of my lists but not their contents.
