  • Fun at first, but prepare to be frustrated

    By N0tAF@n
I’ve been playing this game for a few months now and at first it was great. The quests and special events are fun and the graphics are cool. I was even willing to spend real money on various items: event access passes, energy boosts, chests, etc. because I was really enjoying the game and didn’t mind supporting its development. However, as I’ve leveled up (I’m on level 65) the game has become extremely frustrating! So much so that I’m probably going to delete it. I rarely receive access passes anymore when I successfully complete a location and therefore can’t complete the quests because I can’t search the necessary locations. When I finally do get enough access passes and successfully complete a search I receive nothing that I need. Not the quest items, event banishment tools, access passes, collection items, etc. All I get are the same fixers and banishment tools that I already have more than a hundred of. Even when I use Talismans they very rarely do what they’re supposed to. I recently used one to increase the chances of finding tools and received ONE eyeglass the whole time the Talisman was in effect. I’ve been stuck for days searching various locations to try to get enough of the access passes that I need to complete the 5 quests that are currently required for me to move on. FIVE quests and I can’t complete a single one because the game won’t give me the access passes that I need to enter the necessary locations. I don’t know why this is happening. Is it because I’ve spent money before so the game developers rig the game to try to get me to spend again to get what I need? Well, that’s not going to work and now the game isn’t fun anymore. So, I’ll be deleting this one and moving on to something else.

Doesn't have a ton of ads unless you need something and choose to watch one. Gives you enough lives to play for a very good length of time.
  • Engaging and fun

Engaging and fun, not too many ads. Doesn’t get impossibly hard after the first few plays to entice you to spend money.
  • Great app!

I wish I discovered this app sooner. Lots of different challenges/tasks to keep it interesting in between searching for items.

I’ve been playing for several months. I don’t play for long periods of time (you run out of energy), and I don’t do it every day, but it’s a nice diversion. The game is challenging but generally enjoyable if you can stand declining two pop-up ads for in-game purchases every other screen. Like so many others, I can’t afford those purchases either, so I suppose this is my only way to “pay” for the game. Two suggestions for the developers: 1. When you complete a search and the screen is distributing your rewards, I find it extremely disruptive that the purchase ads pop up before I can see what collections the items are going to. I’ve had to scroll all the way through the collection list many times to find out what I am still lacking or to complete a collection simply because the ad covered up the final results of the location I had just successfully explored. At least let the seeking and reward process finish before you block it with the pop-up ad. 2. I recognize that the locations and puzzles need to get more difficult as you progress, but the Haunted Lights, Treasure Box, and (to a lesser extent) Ancient Cards puzzles have gotten so tough as to be onerous; I often use every bit of energy I have trying (and failing) to make it through one of them. And even when I finally do succeed, the items I need to acquire for the challenge aren’t awarded ... and I have to wait until the energy renews so I can spend it all again attempting to pass a single puzzle. From a relative difficulty standpoint, the hidden object puzzles are far and away easier than these three puzzles, yet so many of the challenges require passing them. I have a stack of 3 or 4 challenges in my left-hand column that all need Haunted Lights, and I’m stuck on every one of them. If anything causes me to delete this game, this frustration is what it will be. Can’t there be either some sort of parity between puzzles or else not require so many challenges dependent upon Haunted Lights, Treasure Box, and Ancient Cards?
