Babbel – Learn Languages App Description

Learn Spanish, French, Italian, German, and many more languages with Babbel. Developed by a team of language learning experts, Babbel has helped millions of people speak a new language with confidence. THE BABBEL METHOD Here’s what makes Babbel more effective than any other language learning app: 1. Confidence — Our goal is to get you speaking from your very first lesson. And our elegantly designed courses give you the confidence to get there. We teach you how to engage in practical, everyday conversations, making it easier for you to have authentic experiences in your new language. 2. Comprehension — Our lessons immerse you in relevant culture and real-life conversations. We want you to really take in the language, not just memorize useless phrases. And we provide helpful hints in English (or your native language) to make your new language more relatable. 3. Retention — We know you’re busy. That’s why our lessons are short but sweet: about 10-15 minutes, and designed to send your new language straight to long-term memory. We regularly refresh your memory with our dynamic review sessions, which target areas where you need improvement most. Finally, we make sure you really grasp what you’re learning by bringing it back later in a new context. • Great App

Reinforces and builds upon basics -I am finally grasping the nuances of the Cyrillic alphabet.
  • Skipping around the lessons

    By Abandon09
So far I’m giving it 4 stars... I’ve only had the app for a week though and may change my rating later. I have learned some Polish phrases but have skipped around a little in the lessons because I wanted to learn phrases quicker. That being said, I have a hard time with the pronunciation but I’m sure it’s because of the skipping around. Also, it’s really hard when it comes time to write in the phrases instead of merely unscrambling a word or two. At the point where you write the entire phrase from memory it was “learned” about 5 minutes prior. I’ll probably end up repeating a few lessons. Overall it is helping me learn but not a 5 star app yet... we will see in a few months.
  • Open & immediately closes

If you finish the first part of a lesson and close the app, when to open the app & click 5he continue button the app opens the lesson & immediately closes the lesson. You have to go start the lesson completely over. Terrible app.
  • Boring. There are better apps

You will get bored easily. I find it to be too slow. You click the answer then have to wait a few seconds for the next button to pop up.
  • Melhor opção para quem não tem muito tempo livre

    By Lucas Parreira
Comecei os estudos de francês a poucos dias, e já consigo compreender diálogos e construir pequenas frases. Ótimo serviço para quem não tem muito tempo livre. Recomendo!
  • Waste of time

    By Gordo0214
There isn’t any context behind the words they are teaching. They just throw them at you without explanation. It’s all memorization. Easy to translate but when it comes to holding a conversation with an actual Spanish speaker it is zero help.
  • Fantastic

Learning German and it’s working amazingly. I’m able to retain everything I learn because it uses visual, audio, reading and writing! Its easy yet challenging thus making it so fun. I always look forward to getting on the app for daily lesson! Thanks Babbel !!
  • Difficult to use on my iPad..

I never got too far into the actual use of the app due to multiple problems with functionality. So far, a waste of my time and money.
  • Beginner’s French

    By Mme. Mary Anne
I’m enjoying it. I took French in high school and college but I had little occasion to use it over the years, so I’m starting over at the Beginner level. Some of that is elementary, but gets more challenging as the lessons continue. I think the claim that you can learn a language in as little as three weeks is probably overstated, but I am learning a lot of practical French in 15-30 minutes per day. I appreciate the features that help me to work on speaking and pronunciation, reading, writing, and understanding what I hear. I look forward to continuing to work with this.
  • Political

I want to learn the language. I didn’t sign up for schooling in environmental issues. I’d prefer to learn about traditional French culture, not what a bunch of millennials think about climate change. Disappointing. Also, the beginner to advance takes a pretty healthy leap leaving one a bit perplexed.
