App Reviews

  • Don't believe the hype

This app needs work. Seriously. There is no day view in calendar mode only agenda mode (my lest favorite view as my days are packed). And the other versions on desktop cost me $40 and then forced me to enter a password every time I opened the app. I could not be less impressed by this basic app. Given the hype I was curious - buyer beware this is not all that great. Nearly EVERY other app I have tried is as good - no joke. I don't know who they pay to write these good reviews - they obviously never used a calendar app before.
  • Fantastic, except...

...for one issue I’ve noticed: the app seems to be unable to load calendars added by any “managed profile” on your device.
  • Very very slow, freezes constantly

This has gotten worse since I purchased the app but there have not been many new noticeable features. Please focus on stability and speed.
  • Not useful as task manager

The signature feature of this app is that it displays calendar and reminders in one app. That’s maybe useful. But this app is not suitable at all as a task manager because there is no dedicated view on complete task lists. You still need a separate app to manage tasks. Too bad I wasted 5$ to figure this out.
  • Times are on the right :(

I like this calendar very much however the times are listed on the right hand side instead of the left. All other calendars I have tried have the times listed on the left side before the event. If this could be added as an option for those of us who like prioritizing our day by the time instead of the event that would be great.
  • So good, with one downfall...

I love Fantastical and bought it for my Mac, iPhone and iPad. It is a beautifully designed app that is a pleasure to use. Well almost. I was shocked to see an app this advanced and so skillfully put together STILL using the old-fashioned DATE SPINNERS for their date picker! These things are SO ANNOYING to mess with, and they provide absolutely NO VISUAL LAYOUT of the month. Just today, before leaving the optometrist’s office, they needed to schedule my next appointment for exactly one month away, so the receptionist asked if the 2nd Thursday in February would work for me. Well, that’s IMPOSSIBLE to answer when using date spinners, because you can’t SEE where a specific day like that falls within the month! Why won’t a great design team like the one who created Fantastical give us a nice scrolling month view instead? Those are a million times easier to use, PLUS they provide an instant visual snapshot of upcoming months. They let you immediately “see” where the “second Thursday in February” is in relation to all your other events. The date spinners provide none of that. Not sure why the fine people at Fantastical are still holding out on this, but man oh man, I’d love to see a sliding month view sometime soon!
  • Phone/watch complication!?

Make the iPhone app and Apple Watch complications display the date you monkeys! (Otherwise amazing.) why does the free calendar perform the most important calendar function (effortless date display-no touching needed) and this fancy one doesn’t!?!? You want me to waste a second watch complication just so I can see the date?
  • Lags in features

Jan 16, 2019. A beautiful GUI, but wish Fantastical kept pace with features like driving time, and also wish they had better support for multiple time zones for Google Calendar.
  • Stopped Syncing

Worked fine for over a year and now it doesn’t sync with my calendars. No way to request support! I deleted the app and added back with the same issue.
  • Using Siri on the standard calendar is easier and cheaprr

I downloaded this app and can’t make heads or tails of it. I just merely freaking want an easy to use calendar that can send me a reminder and not lose the apptmt. I tried to manually input a dental appointment and add an address and phone number. Dear Baby Jesus. What a rigamorole. Just say “Siri add dentist appointment to Wed at 8:30AM.” I think Siri forgets them, but it’s a better chance than this app. Not intuitive at all. Don’t even ask the right questions. Big disappointment. Nobody makes a good calendar.
