Many other types of these apps don’t offer star, planets and satellites. It even tracks “space junk”. Old rocket boosters.

Saw the International Space Station pass overhead last night. Would never have known to look for it but Night Sky told exactly when and where to watch for it. Learning more about my stars every night I have visibility. Night Sky also tells me if it’s going to be a good night for star gazing. Very informative.

I am new to astronomy. I moved from the NE to Florida, on a golf course near the Gulf of Mexico. My children were 6 & 4 when we moved here. Because of the golf course there was less background light the surrounding areas and the stars popped in the evening sky. To make conditions even better we have a balcony which allows an unobstructed view of the sky. Because viewing conditions we so good I could not help but take advantage of this natural resource. Consequently I bought both 10” and 12”reflecting telescopes which I hoped my children would share my interest in the vast celestial sky. And sure enough they did to the point that they religiously did their homework before dinner so they could spend after dinner time on the balcony We bought several books on the sky, constellations and the planets. The biggest problem we found with books is that we could never orient ourself as the planets which we used as markers moved. We could not find most of the constellations and even the planets could not readily be identified. Smaller objects from asteroids to the International Space Station were almost impossible to the untrained eye. Night Sky changed everything. Because of real time presentations with attention to both large objects (the sun, moon, planets) and small objects (asteroids, the space station) the sky suddenly appeared as a simple map with an index. My children instantly saw the sky as a game seeing who could identify more objects. In fact our children became so facile with the night sky that they could trace celestial objects without a guide. Even after several years their enthusiasm for Night Sky and astronomy has flourished. Because viewing was a reward they have organized their lives efficiently so that all of their school work was always completed on time with a noticeable increase their interest in school as well I consider Night Sky among one of the best teaching tools available. It has spilled over from observing the stars to organizing our children’s lives. Hopefully this newly formed discipline will stay with them throughout their lives. For this I cannot recommend NightSky enough not only for teaching our children astronomy but giving them the tools to succeed in life M.B.C. Sarasota, Florida

I just recently got this app, and I have already used the app many times. I thought it would not work well at all either, seeing that it is a large app and looks very complicated. I am very pleased. Thank you!
