The app is horrible. It needs a lot of changes. For instance the way the plan of the app is laid out and how you have to pay. PAY to “promote” your item. Seriously?! Otherwise the app is nice because it makes it easy to sell things.

Edit 19APR2018: Hopped on to see if there’s any chatter about the current issue-can’t message/access community etc. Can’t find anything on the web, so. Issue’s been going on for about 48hrs. I’m sure it’s something they’ll get resolved. I STILL think this is a great app. It’s still free and continues to improve ALL the time. I STILL recommend it to anyone considering. Below is my original review. Which, I still stand by: UPFRONT: This app is young and started out around Seattle. Opinions will differ from user to user based upon how active it is in their area. I live in Fort Lewis, WA and can say it's pretty active in Seattle, Tacoma, Portland/Salem/Eugene (OR). Smaller communities further East will become more active as it continues to spread. So consider ones location before thinking this app is garbage. It simply isn't. This has been my "Go-To" source for many years now. I figured since I've been using it for about three years, now is a good time to write a review. Here goes: I've bought and sold many items over the last 12 or so years. I've used many sites such as Craigslist, BooKoo, EBay, Amazon, and now (the wannabe) LetGo. Nothing compares to OfferUp (OU). The following is what this app has that others don't: CRAIGSLIST: Reputation/Trust of seller or buyer. Everyone has a profile and it's easy to get an idea of who you're dealing with. Seeing ratings from others, their location, how long they've been active, whether or not they're a "trusted" member as identified by OU and by viewing other items they have offers a nice piece of mind. You don't get that 'who am I dealing with' feeling. In-App messaging. This makes it nice to keep track of who you're talking to and about what. Similar to your phones text messages. It's just all there. Just, with pictures readily available to quick reference. Seeing other items the seller/buyer has for sale. If you're going to meet someone, they might have some other stuff you're interested in too. Just take a look. Open to trade? See what they have. It's just convenient. I could go on. The take away: it just has more of that personal feeling to it. EBAY/AMAZON: Well, seeing it in person for starters. Local shopping goes a long way. No need for PayPal or bank set up stuff. It's more like a browsing a garage sale with your neighbor. It's quick, easy and painless. Posting items for sale is as simple as taking a photo and writing up a small blurb about your item. We all know how to do that. It's super easy. Bookoo/LetGo. Both are lacking severely in features and support. They just don't come close. I wanted so much for them, but they just fall short in so many ways. OfferUp just has everything I want in a buy/sell/trade app. I've encouraged many of my family/friends to use it and have yet to hear anyone complain later. Is it perfect? No. can it improve? Sure. HOWEVER: It's free. I say again, IT'S FREE. It's got tons of support. I've personally spoken with several support agents that have helped me with issues. It's continuously being improved upon and every update it seems to get better and better. Someone is working diligently, for us. The consumer. So while it has room for improvements, I am very grateful for the free product that I do have. And of the free apps out there, this trumps all. I could go on and on here. The bottom line is: I'm sold on this. I recommend it to anyone considering it. Give it an honest go. Learn how to use it and you won't need anything else. I promise. Nothing compares. If someone at OU looks at these reviews: Thank you. You guys are awesome. Jason C West Coast Mobile user Member since Nov 2013

When they Started It was great App to Use it. But now its like a Craig’s List. People are selling anything, some people are literally doing business on this. This app spies on you. When you browse your phone on internet browser, this app grabs your history and shows you Advertising in their app of your browsing products. You can see advertising literally after every 3 listings. And your will click there advertising and more of your data will be shared with other third parties.

For some stupid reason if you search for things in your local area there are things hidden.. I posted three x box games to sell and only two of them showed up. I messaged them to find out why.... They told me that's just how they do things and that I would have to put on the video games filter on in order to see them all. If im searching a specific area I want to see everything in that area I might not know I want something unless I see it. Maybe im just looking for good deals on things. I shouldn't have to put on a filter to see everything in a area!

  • Way too many ads!

Used to be good BUT it Tracks what you tap on and shop for then posts way too many ads on your feed. A lot of times I’ll be looking through the feed tap on something interesting and then I get a ton of ads and accidentally end up clicking it and it takes me to the website. Obviously this app is trying to make money off of cost per click. I’ll be deleting soon.
