App Reviews

  • Astonishing

    By John.Bramhall
An astonishing intensity of obtrusive adverts. I pay $500/year to be treated with this level of disrespect? How hard is it to generate a considerate and well-curated site for those (paying) subscribers who could sign in? Disrespectful of both journalists and subscribers.
  • App keeps freezing as I scroll through stories

    Super annoying!!! Please fix!!
  • Bandwidth hog

    By nickname918183
This app uses more bandwidth than Netflix!! It would be one thing if it just loaded ad after ad after ad on WiFi, but it does it on cellular! You pay once for your subscriptions and then AGAIN for the extra few gigs for advertising
  • Great app, when I can read the text...

    By goldbaumer
The ability to increase the font size allows low vision readers (like myself) to read articles. Unfortunately, the setting only applies to some articles. It appears the app opens certain articles as webpages. These do not reflect the view settings defined i the app. This means I can see the text on certain articles just fine while others, seemingly at random, display text too small for me to read. Please fix this!!
  • no ios printing capability

    By Npr fan 13579
The NYT content is great, but I hate the mobile app. Apparently there is no mobile printing capability at all for iPads and iPhones. Supposedly you can print after opening the article in Safari, but this never works for me. I am completely exasperated by this.
  • New NYT App

    By No watts
This new NYT app for iPad is slower than an outdated PC filled with network software and far too many pet videos. Half the time it fails to open, and when it does I'm looking at a "Top News" page of which three quarters I saw two days ago. Bring back the old one!
  • Crossword flop

    By A-Mess
Your "new" update managed to recreate bugs that existed and were fixed in the old app. In the middle of a crossword puzzle, letter inputs suddenly do not appear. A reboot yields the loss of multiple previous inputs. Your "upgrade" is a significant downgrade. You may want to test these changes before vomiting them out to your subscribers.
  • Are you a newspaper or a video game?

    By PTMRI
Just got your new app. It is not an improvement. Very disappointing.
  • Old version was much better

    By JordanR62
They blew it with this one. Can’t review the sections you want. With these moves it’s as if NY Times management wants to make life more difficult for themselves
  • Terrible

Buttons are tiny: Why must things get smaller and smaller? New app is awful, now share button and article save buttons are practically freakin’ invisible, also comments button, smaller and lighter - could you developers in your 20s maybe even consider some of us older readers on our iPads here are NOT pleased?? At LEAST make them LARGER please, nice to have darker too, bring back previous version, for chrissakes my share buttons are larger on my SE iPhone !! And with others—why are they there BEFORE I’ve even read article? Also agree with others: looks like CNN page, or USA Today, click-baity, as another reviewer put it. Also comments now a column. Instead of a proper box. Ugh, this app is worse not better (and previous was worse than previous). Also, agree with others: I cannot BELIEVE you took out authors names from Opinion headlines. And ALL articles! Even the front page. Seriously? A dis to your fine journalists as well. I’m sure they’re not happy about it either. Why are you dumbing yourselves down? Could you please act like a proper NEWSPAPER room again. Pick up a print copy of your own and have a look.
