I initially balked at paying for yet another streaming service, but FilmStruck has won me over. I like seeing unexpected films or rediscovering more familiar films I haven’t seen for years, and the extras (little lectures or meditations on moviemaking) are excellent. I wish the inventory was more extensive, but it seems to be improving. The Criterion Channel was better organized on Hulu, however.
  • I wanna love it, but...

This review is for the Appletv app. I’ll chime in with everyone else and say that I love the idea and selections. But the app and quality of video playback is horrible. First the app, it feels as if it is ported over from another build. The entire app is terribly sluggish and unresponsive. It has none of the slickness of other apps on the Appletv. Just terrible. It’s lick navigating through molasses. Then there is the quality of the videos being shown. Higher end titles look good but most (Local Hero, for example) look awful!! This is the quality we expect from Criterion? A bad dupe of a compressed video that is barely a few notches above a VHS copy. I eventually gave up.
  • Doesn’t work

It started out ok, and then a month in, does not function. Not sure why, maybe they lack band width, but a waste of money ifI cannot watch. Great idea, terrible execution.
  • Does not work in OS 9.3.5

Bugs are fixed. I am catching up on the masters. This content cant be streamed anywhere else, that I can tell.
  • Fantastic

I tried different streams after cutting cable four years ago. All are too expensive for what they have. This is the first one I will keep beyond the free trial period. Lots of great films from all countries and times. TCM was one of the only channels we missed. The Criterion addition is excellent-worth every penny.
  • Come a long way

Has really improved after a rocky start. Almost seamless. One small note: I can't copy and paste my username and password in the app. It's not recognized as a password field to use stored password nor can I paste in my very long password from the clipboard 😕
  • Great service, subpar app

Main complaints are: - the app does not usually remember what time I pause a movie at. Works on a computer but not my iPhone - when I'm scrubbing through the time of a movie no counter tells me what time I'm at. This is available on literally every other video app I use. Wyd filmstruck? Love you tho!!
