LastPass Authenticator App Description

LastPass Authenticator offers effortless two-factor authentication for your LastPass account and other supported apps. With one-tap verification and secure cloud backup, LastPass Authenticator gives you all the security, without any of the frustration. ADD MORE SECURITY Safeguard your LastPass account by requiring two-factor authentication codes when signing in. Two-factor authentication improves your digital security by protecting your account with an additional login step. Even if your password is compromised, your account can’t be accessed without the two-factor authentication code. You can even mark a device as “trusted”, so you won’t be prompted for codes on that device while your account remains protected by two-factor authentication. TURNING IT ON To turn on LastPass Authenticator for your LastPass account: 1. Download LastPass Authenticator to your mobile device. 2. Log in to LastPass on your computer and launch “Account Settings” from your vault. 3. In “Multifactor Options”, edit LastPass Authenticator and view the barcode. 4. Scan the barcode with the LastPass Authenticator app. 5. Set your preferences and save your changes. LastPass Authenticator can also be turned on for any service or app that supports Google Authenticator or TOTP-based two-factor authentication. LOGGING IN To login to your LastPass account or other supported vendor service: 1. Open the app to generate a 6-digit, 30-second code OR approve/deny an automated push notification 2. Alternatively, send SMS code 3. Enter the code into the login prompt on your device OR hit approve/deny request FEATURES - Generates 6-digit codes every 30 seconds - Push notifications for one-tap approval - Optional encrypted backup to restore your tokens on a new/reinstalled device - Support for SMS codes - Automated set-up via QR code - Support for LastPass accounts - Support for other TOTP-compatible services and apps (including any that support Google Authenticator) - Add multiple accounts - Available on Android and iOS

  • Works, except when it doesn’t , have to uninstall to reset PIN

App works great, but I have not been able to figure out how to reset a forgotten PIN, it looks like the only way is to uninstall the app. I have an old iPad mini 2 that doesn’t have Touch ID, so I have to use the PIN on it, but since it requires a 6 digit PIN, I cannot remember what it is (I use my iPhone version primarily and only use the iPad one occasionally).

Adding a new authenticator entries clears all the pre-existing ones. what use is to backup the entries if you have no way to restore?
  • Great part of LastPass ecosystem on iOS

Review of the product: It has been super refreshing that LastPass provided this Authenticator app. I wanted to keep my Authenticator agonistic from specific platforms like Google and this let’s me do that easily. It also allows for backing up into the cloud to prevent getting locked out due to device failures/upgrades. (Relied on this feature recently and it saved the day!) I’d love to see more in the form of push authentication wherever possible. Thank you for making this companion to your secure password management ecosystem. Request of the dev team: Please enhance the LastPass experience by expanding this Authenticator app to watchOS - it provides more value than the base LastPass watchOS app provides. I can’t readily visually copy a long complex password from my wrist to my login screen but I can easily benefit from having quick access to a six digit OTP code! I would love to hear from you on this request. Thanks!

I’ll be right to the point: The iPad version does not work in landscape mode. That is annoying. Can you fix this please? The Apple Watch app is basically useless. You can only see that an authentication request is coming through. You cannot verify and approve it. Why not?

Love it, but I’m wondering why there’s no Apple Watch app now. I wonder if there’s a problem at Apple’s end? Some say that one should split up the authentication duties between lastpass and Google authenticator, but it actually does create more friction to do that. I find that lastpass is slightly easier, and since I’m not a spy, I’ll absorb the tiny bit of extra risk.

The update record of the version history and comments show that responding to users and improving the app are low priorities. The mobile browser is not capable with many sites. Too often, LastPass fails to fill many sites' login fields using the LastPass iOS extension for major browsers like Safari and Chrome. You can't set LastPass to leave your username or password stored in the chipboard for longer than one minute. LastPass has its good points, but responding to its paying-customers' needs is not one of them. There's been some improvement since its acquisition.

The Authenticator is great. I know because I have to re-authenticate with LastPass way too often. Why no Watch app?
