LastPass Authenticator App Description

LastPass Authenticator offers effortless two-factor authentication for your LastPass account and other supported apps. With one-tap verification and secure cloud backup, LastPass Authenticator gives you all the security, without any of the frustration. ADD MORE SECURITY Safeguard your LastPass account by requiring two-factor authentication codes when signing in. Two-factor authentication improves your digital security by protecting your account with an additional login step. Even if your password is compromised, your account can’t be accessed without the two-factor authentication code. You can even mark a device as “trusted”, so you won’t be prompted for codes on that device while your account remains protected by two-factor authentication. TURNING IT ON To turn on LastPass Authenticator for your LastPass account: 1. Download LastPass Authenticator to your mobile device. 2. Log in to LastPass on your computer and launch “Account Settings” from your vault. 3. In “Multifactor Options”, edit LastPass Authenticator and view the barcode. 4. Scan the barcode with the LastPass Authenticator app. 5. Set your preferences and save your changes. LastPass Authenticator can also be turned on for any service or app that supports Google Authenticator or TOTP-based two-factor authentication. LOGGING IN To login to your LastPass account or other supported vendor service: 1. Open the app to generate a 6-digit, 30-second code OR approve/deny an automated push notification 2. Alternatively, send SMS code 3. Enter the code into the login prompt on your device OR hit approve/deny request FEATURES - Generates 6-digit codes every 30 seconds - Push notifications for one-tap approval - Optional encrypted backup to restore your tokens on a new/reinstalled device - Support for SMS codes - Automated set-up via QR code - Support for LastPass accounts - Support for other TOTP-compatible services and apps (including any that support Google Authenticator) - Add multiple accounts

  • Awful

The instructions are terrible. If you’re willing to risk losing all of your data, download this thing and TRY to set it up. I dare you. Just awful. These guys should hire a qualified technical writer.
  • Removed Apple Watch support - no longer 5 stars

This app was awesome when there was an Apple Watch app that allowed you to verify requests. The feature has been removed with an update and really diminishes the usefulness of the app
  • Very Intuitive

I’m very glad they have the feature to back up the secret codes. It makes it very convenient when my phone bites the dust or I lose it and being able to login into my accounts. However, the caveat of this is that we have to rely on LogMeIn’s security protocols on their servers. Let’s hope it can stay intact until the end of time!
  • Passwords Don’t Save In Mobile App

Click “generate new password” and then click “save”. Doesn’t save anything. No password is listed. Doesn’t work on the phone or the iPad. Maddening.
  • Great!

Simple interface, does what it’s supposed to and allows secure backups so I’m not lost when I go swimming with my phone. I only wish more sites used this kind of 2FA.
  • Lost everything after an upgrade... with backups....

Recently I decided to upgrade after enabling the backup option. This morning I opened the app and everything is gone with no clear way of getting it back... that’s one hell-of-a backup....
  • Fix the Workflow

I use LastPass heavily personally and within enterprise and would love to get push to accept on Apple Watch. Other multi factor services have this and I think its time for LastPass as well. Currently I get the notification on my watch but I can only deny the request. An app or the ability to accept it from the Watch is so natural. -6/1 I am still waiting for this to get fixed. The workflow for accepting 2 factor requests needs to be streamlined. If you are going to put an accept button in the notification let it authenticate with faceID and be done. I have to then authenticate into the app and then press a green Check button which is just cumbersome. I use Okta Verify at work and they have nailed it. Please take the constructive feedback and make the user experience the best it can be!
  • Can’t add more than one mobile device

Try as I might, I cannot add my iPad LastPass Authenticator once I’ve added my iPhone LastPass Authenticator. Once the iPhone is added the only option available from the website is to enable or disable the authenticator. Unless it’s hidden somewhere else on the site, there is not an option to add the authenticator from other devices. And it simply does not work properly on the iPhone. It’s supposed to be seamless - once you try to log in you’ll get a notification telling you to use the authenticator. You click on that notification to open the authenticator and click on the green allow button. Once you’ve done that, you should be re-directed back to your browser or app without having to manually enter the code. It worked once. ONCE. And from then on I’ve had to enter the code manually each and every time. The trust this device option did not appear the first time I used the iPhone. I removed it and re-installed it and the trust this device option appeared. I was also able to add the iPad finally by launching the app and using the authenticator code from my iPhone but still cannot add the iPad authenticator app via the website.
  • You Should Be Able to Search Vault within the Extension

If the website or app does not match perfectly than your password won’t show up. There should be a way to search all your websites within the extension
  • And then my accounts were gone

This app did its job until I logged in today and all my accounts were gone. Great. Won’t be back.
