Leio App Description

Take control of your reading life. Use Leio to time your reading sessions and stay motivated. How many books did you start this year? How many did you finish? How long did it take to read them? Leio can help you answer these questions and many more. Fun fact: Leio means “I read” in Portuguese. TIMER Time your reading sessions and gain insight into your habits. Life can be distracting: use Leio to set aside some time and focus on your reading. You will be surprised by how much you can accomplish. PROGRESS Keep track of where you are in multiple books. A quick look will tell you what page to read next, what percentage of the book you have completed, how long you have read it for and much more. When you haven't read a book in a while, its progress bar will show in gray. Try to keep them all blue! New: add books easily with Leio's barcode scanner! NOTES Save your reading notes and your favorite quotations and always have them at hand. Share them with your friends or social networks. PREDICTIONS Here’s where Leio shines: it will learn from your habits and give you accurate predictions to help you manage your reading life. Know exactly when you will finish a book and for how long you have to read until you are done. DEADLINES If you need to finish a book by a certain date, Leio can tell you how long or how many pages to read per day to finish in time. It will even learn how often you read and adjust accordingly. You can also play with the settings and come up with your own reading plan: tell Leio how much and how often you plan to read and see when you might finish in real time. If a book is close to its due date, its progress bar will show in red. PLANNER Tell Leio how often you want to read each book and use its new planner section to stay on track. See how much you have read on each day, how much you still have to read, and how much time to set aside to accomplish your goals! ACHIEVEMENTS Keep track of your achievements and try to beat your own records. Leio will show you your current reading streak, your longest streak, your longest reading session, the longest book you have read and more. STATISTICS Check how your reading life evolves over time. Charts and data for different timespans will help you keep motivated to read more and more. PACE Know how long it takes you on average to read a single page or a whole book. Find out if a specific book was easier or harder to read than most. Check your reading speed for different sessions, books and timespans. READING LOG Leio will keep an extensive record of your reading sessions, so you will always be able to tell when you started a book, when you finished, how long it took you to read it, over how many days, how many sessions and much more. Keep track of how much you have read and challenge yourself to read more. SHARE Share your progress with friends or save reports for yourself. Now you can also sync your progress to Goodreads and post status updates! Interface icons by icons8.

Leio is an interesting app, and reviewing it is complicated. On the one hand, it has the potential to be incredibly useful. On the other, the app is fairly pointless, especially for those who choose to read e-books. I fall into this second camp. What does Leio do? Well, it times and keeps track of your reading sessions. Mind you, this process is entirely reliant on manual input. This means you have to start the timer every time you start reading, end the timer when you finish, and tell the app the last page you were on. This is especially useful if say, your New Year’s resolution was to read more. The usefulness doubles for those who choose to stick with reading physical books, as it can give a really good idea of how long it’s going to take to complete a book. Unfortunately, most e-book companies provide a similar function built into their apps and e-readers. Adding books into the app is easy, but the app’s usefulness is once again slanted heavily towards those reading physical books- you can simply scan the barcode and the app will input all pertinent information for you. So, in summation, this app is wonderful for those who read physical books, but would like access to some of the more powerful tools available to those who choose to read e-books. For those who read e-books, this app is little more than a timer designed for books. I am a diehard Kindle user, and read a lot on my phone while on the go. As it stands I do not know how long I will keep this app on my phone. I don’t particularly regret purchasing the full app, as I can always get behind supporting good software. TO THE DEVELOPER: I highly recommend adding in two features, both of which would go a long way to improving the overall usefulness of this app. First, and foremost, the app really should chime when the daily goal has been met. This can be based on time, or on the estimated number of pages read. Why such a function has not been included in the app already is beyond me. Second comes the long shot, but a feature that would make Leio an indispensable app: an automated timer for e-book readers. Leio can already tie into Goodreads, what if it could tie into the Kindle app? I wouldn’t have to log my own reading sessions, the app could take care of all of this for me. I don’t know if Amazon (or other e-book companies) would ever cooperate with such a function, but if you could accomplish this feat you would turn Leio into one of the most useful apps in the App Store.

This is the best app for tracking reading that I have ever used and I have tried a lot. I call this app the reading polygamist’s dream. Definitely worth every penny for premium. I especially like that it has the option to read books out of order, different settings for tracking ebooks and you can even add reading sessions after they take place. It also gauges your reading patterns to help predict when you will reach your goals. This past year has been the first time we have been iPhone users and are about to go back to android and I really hope to see this app come to the android market as there really is nothing like it.

I like this app a lot, it just would have been nice to know you had to pay to log and track more than one book.

I love this app! It is really nice to be able to keep track of my leisure reading and, especially, assigned readings for college. I enjoy the calendar in the app. It is nice to be able to schedule reading sessions without using another calendar app or an actual calendar. However, it would be nice if the calendar highlighted the day Leio expects you to finish a book in a different color instead of a dot.
  • Great for studying

I add each chapter of my textbook as it’s own book and the app automatically tells me how much I should read each day becoming more accurate with each session. I love it!

If you’re a runner, you need data to shave time and improve your pace. Reading is similar. See how long it takes to read a book, budget that time accordingly, and then work to improve your pace. Simple in concept, effective in design, and brilliant in application.

I absolutely recommend Leio. It has helped me keep track of books I'm reading for school. The only thing is I think $4.99 is a bit expensive for an upgrade. But overall, I would recommend Leio to avid book readers!
