The powerful combination of award-winning apps and a proven method—YNAB’s Four Rules—has changed the lives of hundreds of thousands of people by teaching them to get control of their finances, stop stressing, and live the life they want to live. A Proven Method—YNAB’s Four Rules Rule One: Give Every Dollar A Job | Be intentional about what you want your money to do before you spend it. Rule Two: Embrace Your True Expenses | Break up larger, less frequent expenses into smaller, manageable amounts. By saving monthly for insurance premiums, holidays, or car repairs, when the time comes, your money is ready and waiting to do its job. Rule Three: Roll With The Punches | When life changes, so must your budget. Make adjustments and move along. Flexible budgets succeed because they’re guilt-free, realistic, and sustainable. Rule Four: Age Your Money | As you repeat the first three rules, you’ll increase the time between earning a dollar and the moment you need to spend it. When your money is at least a month old, you’ll have finally broken the paycheck to paycheck cycle for good. App Reviews

  • Needs better App reports

    By Ed A Camb
Most budget apps are hard to use and lack features. YNAB is better than other budget apps but still needs much improvement. It is puzzling that there are no income and expense reports in the App. (If they exist I can’t find) Creating a budget is still way too difficult.
  • Complex and time consuming

    By Nurmac
Great customer service. Solid concepts. However, implementing the concepts with this app or website is not intuitive. The complexity in getting going is frustrating. Be prepared to spend a time getting setup with budgets, goals, and initial reconciliation and for trial and error and contacting support, which is excellent. My recommendation: don’t even attempt to use the mobile app or the desktop website until you’ve read the help docs or watched the short videos or you’re in for frustration. I ended up throwing away hours of work and just starting over.
  • YNAB Rocks!

Love it! We have been using YNAB for about 4 years now and love the whole system. App is straight forward and easy to use. Keep on keepin’ on, YNAB!
  • Useful app but.....

    By stasney
Useful app but imported transactions from accounts /bank are always mislabeled in YNAB! I’ve contacted them more than once and they acknowledged the problem but it’s never been resolved in over 2 years!! I put up with it but shouldn’t have to. Get it right YNAB and I’ll gladly give you 5 stars!!
  • It’s great UNTIL...

    By ashpenaz
This company will tell you to buy this version and you will be set. Just pay the subscription, however, as soon as they have squeezed all the money they can get and start longing to richer they will announce a new version. There won’t be any substantial changes mind you...just cosmetic. They won’t support your version and they will make it impossible for you to use your version forcing you to upgrade to a more expensive version. Just watch and see. I loved YNAB but as a senior citizen they have bypassed all the loyal original purchasers for money. I can not afford YNAB. So it is rather less than helpful. Thanks YNAB.
  • Frustrating

    By vilerat
This app is absolutely infuriating. I want to like and use it because it’s a great concept however it’s the single most frustrating thing I’ve ever laid hands on. IKEA assembly instructions aspire to be this unintuitive and maddening. “There’s a learning curve” is a severe understatement. To make things worse I finally sort of understood it and made a minor error. If anything is slightly off there’s a bright red bar on the top of the app screaming for attention. It makes sorting out the budgeting problems even more difficult than they already are. It has potential but seriously needs an overhaul because it’s near unusable. The only reason I’m not deleting it a day after wrestling with the infernal thing is because I really need to get a budget that works for me. A+ concept but the execution makes me think I’ve died and am being punished in purgatory.
  • Great idea but absolutely terrible bank connections

    By Avi Warner
I like the concept, and it’s a great idea but absolutely terrible bank connections make this very hard to use. Syncing is awful, rarely works, and some accounts simply can’t be setup. The same functionality on another solution tried worked quickly and flawlessly so I’m not keen to blame the bank here. More attention needs to be paid to these features.
  • YNAB is the best budgeting system

    By Jwalthour
You Need A Budget (YNAB)! I know my wife and I sure do. And YNAB is it. Envelope budgeting is something we’ve been doing for years. We’ve used Moneywell and Mvelopes, but YNAB, by far, is the best of them. It’s easy to use, very well thought out both from a conceptual “how to do envelope budgeting right” point of view and an “app development” point of view. If you use envelope budgeting, give YNAB a serious look-see. If you don’t have a budget, YOU NEED A BUDGET. And a note on two previous reviews. First, the YNAB subscription is $84 a year, not a month. RTFM! And the iPhone app is primary intended for transaction entry on the go. If you want to run reports, use the web interface. The right tool for the right job, folks.
  • Great app... couple suggestions

    By blueute04
Love this app. Has helped my wife and I to increase our savings, net worth, etc. A couple things would help knock it out of the park: 1. More encryption! Needs 2FA. Surprised that a budgeting app would not have it, given how sensitive the information is. Banks do it. Probably worth enabling passcode/faceid/touchid for the app specifically as well. 2. The app should have active import and reconciliation tools. I would be so much more effective if I could perform these any time, anywhere.
  • Confusing

This application is much harder and frustrating to use than most. After using it for 2 months I have to sat that I cannot recommend it.
